Is there anything going on of interest?
The third part of the sixth season is out and honestly at this point it's basically real life anime. Overly dramatic for no real reason, bad acting, tons of rah rah speeches, overdone stunts, and for some reason way too many montages. It's entertaining if you shut off and laugh at the absurdity but it's getting harder to do that much. Sadly though they're repeating a lot of similar vibes and regurgitating a lot of the same back and forth subplots, just with different individuals. And all of it is just a remix of the plots from the movies. Even nostalgia can only carry this show for so long and probably nostalgia's back after season 3. The well is dry.
November 15, 2024What a shit show of a fight. Thank goodness I pay for the ad version of Netflix and didn't get a single ad while watching that garbage. I dunno why people actually pay for a pay-per-view of that clown but suckers are born every minute.
November 9, 2024The show about the story of the mix of poor and well-to-do kids living on the outer banks of North Carolina that go about treasure hunting has returned. I know it sounds goofy, teenagers that search for lost treasure is only part of it. The haves and have nots fromthis slice of life is narrated in a way that it helps explain the character development, landscape, style, and emotion of the show. Honestly the first 3 seasons were good but this fourth season feels like the story starts a new chapter and its running a bit long in the tooth. I still recommend it if you want some young modern soap opera with a unique story.
October 26, 2024The second season of the hit Korean show about people being determined to die on a certain date and time, then get pummeled to death and soul taken from them violently by monster teams has returned. This show has a supernatural feel to it as people out of the blue learn that their final days/hours are and it creates a worldwide phenomenon which starts to become apart of society which is both celebrated and dreadfully feared. Admittedly, the first season was amazing but the second season is dragging a little bit as I watch and I'll update by season's end to see if it picks up. UPDATE: I feel the first season mystery and human reaction made the first season very interesting but the second season was all over the place with the display of one possible outcome to the human reaction from season 1. I thought the second season was fine enough but the first season was the better season.
September 29, 2024The second season of the Tulsa King is back. If you recall, this show involves Dwight (played by Sylvester Stallone, yes, that Stallone) as a mob boss that gets sent away after a jail stint to Oklahoma to make due and ends up trying to do his own thing, his own way, by making lemonade out of the lemons given. The show has a great cast, light hearted writing in one instant then has a very serious tone the next. The chemistry of the crew is where this excels under the leadership of Dwight.
Sept 11, 2024A new show that is apart of the MCU Television arena is Agatha. If you watched Wandavision, you were introduced to Agatha Harkness. I won't give away details but she's trying to get her magic back in this show and helps create a coven to go on a journey to do so. This show emphasizes grief, loss, healing, deception, death, and while it does go at a quirky and slower pace, it does help develop a very nuanced and layered character in the Marvel universe. I'd recommend it only if you're a MCU fan and want to keep up with the storylines.
